Tethered

http://topcris.com.ro/?page_id=37

TETHERED

There are no boundaries or limits
Nothing that can change a stubborn mind
I feel tethered to a cause
I feel obligated to a thought
Yeah, yeah can’t help what the heart wants
But lest we forget the turmoil
Guarded to the point of a comfortable prison
Four walls held together with bars and chains
You made a cold, but secure place
Me, I don’t live the same way
Me, I feel tethered to a belief
Always looking for some unknown truth
Always set out to make a change
But not sure which direction to go
Not sure I ever really had a home
Restless rambler always another road less traveled
Quiet adventurer only ever looking for a place to belong
Me and you, it was us against the world
Me and you had each other’s back
Guess we live by a different creed
One I was willing to explore but you felt nothing
Not one smile could change your mind
Not one pleasant memory was worth your time
That’s ok, it’s not you, it’s me
Strong confident women are not afraid to explore
The wanderer in me is curious indeed
The only struggle is finding that one who also wants a little more
I can be right selfish a lot of the times
But I love passionately
I know no other way
I make mistakes often and make note of where I went wrong
If I do the same thing over and over
Then I only have myself to blame
Always searching for perfection
In all my journeys it has never been found
You were damn near close
But you are tethered by your cause
You feel obligated by your thoughts
I guess it is my own arrogance that is preventing any understanding
My own fear of letting go
My fear of being alone
How can you have thousands that love you
But have no understanding of what makes it all work
I’m tired but know no other way to live
I’m fragile but have a resilient presence
I’ll try anything once
Someday I might even grow up

Then There Were Two

THEN THERE WERE TWO

Everything is tied together
Space, home, and love
Even anger is bound by ties
That starts with a simple smile
Fear is a mote around the fortress
That keeps them apart
He is safe on the other side
His heart will never be broken
In the process of protecting himself
He destroyed the only one that cared
And that is the thanks she gets
He knew love once and was torn apart
Then she came along and gave something he never felt
She gave it to a man hell bent on blaming someone else
Does that make you proud
You crushed the light that used to shine so bright
You taught her to be like you
So powerful and strong
Not sure I understand the motive
Since the world is already in a moral decline
Now there is another
She learned from exposure
Now she will never love again
Because it hurt her too much
You used to be the only one
Then there were two
That gave up on love
I guess one person really can make a difference

Sometimes

Salvador Dali, art.com

SOMETIMES

I am often misunderstood
Underestimated and even lied to
Because I do not speak a word
You may think I am a fool
That’s ok, maybe I should care
But I do not
Maybe it should hurt
But feels more like a joke
Mama did not raise a simpleton
Sometimes I’m still learning myself
At times there is a complex weaving
And other times I put it all to rest
All a part of absorbing
Filling myself up to fill in the empty space
Sometimes it makes me sick
Other times it inspires me to create
Those moments make me fly like a bird
Then send me crashing to the earth
Multitude of highs and lows
That is how I ultimately grow
Enjoy the journey while it lasts
Like all things
This too shall pass
Hate to think of a second I may have missed
I know it is inevitable
Can’t always win
Sure is nice when you open your eyes and see the sunrise
And sometimes on a lonely dark night
Nothing shines but the moon
Well, that can be really nice too
A warm dry air caressing my skin
Sometimes being alone does not equal loneliness

The Power of Love

THE POWER OF LOVE

I cannot pretend I know how it all works
I cannot judge you, for whatever that is worth
But if you should ever need a friend
I can tell you that I will be there
I can give you a shoulder
Whenever you feel hurt

I cannot promise that I can change the world
I cannot preach anyone should ever come first
But if you should fall I can lend a hand
If you please lift me when I am bent
No one can stand alone
No one owns the earth

I cannot say this is anything more than words
But I ask for strength and pray for rebirth
I find my power through my love
You can accept it or give it up
We all have our choices
Where hate is concerned

In Another's Shoes

Van-Gogh

IN ANOTHER'S SHOES

You may think I am crazy
To love like I do
You may assume I'm needy
Because I like talking to you
I am many things
But high maintenance
You cannot accuse
I try to be empathetic
But recent actions
Have me so confused

You may think I am weak
To close my eyes like I do
You may judge my actions
I may judge you too
I am forced into silence
Because fighting makes us both lose
I cannot see inside your heart
Do not understand how it got this far
Try walking a mile
In another's shoes

Be Brave

BE BRAVE

Lead by example
Be the change you want to see
Stay strong in the face of adversity
Never fight with verbal abuse
Forgive and move on
Hatred is a poison that only hurts you
Love is the tool that binds an unbreakable bond
Courage is what it takes
To put faith in the unknown
Stamina is necessary
To rise after each fall
We live in a broken melting pot
An open mind learns from fear
Fear tests our convictions
Do not be afraid to change your mind
A million times
Every lesson is a blessing
If you pay attention
Don't let ignorance
Feed you lies
Don't let anyone shake your confidence
No words can ever hurt you
If you believe in yourself
Fighting fire with fire only fans the flames
A simple act of kindness
Separates the weak from the brave
