THEN THERE WERE TWO
Everything is tied together
Space, home, and love
Even anger is bound by ties
That starts with a simple smile
Fear is a mote around the fortress
That keeps them apart
He is safe on the other side
His heart will never be broken
In the process of protecting himself
He destroyed the only one that cared
And that is the thanks she gets
He knew love once and was torn apart
Then she came along and gave something he never felt
She gave it to a man hell bent on blaming someone else
Does that make you proud
You crushed the light that used to shine so bright
You taught her to be like you
So powerful and strong
Not sure I understand the motive
Since the world is already in a moral decline
Now there is another
She learned from exposure
Now she will never love again
Because it hurt her too much
You used to be the only one
Then there were two
That gave up on love
I guess one person really can make a difference

ReplyDeleteAs always your poems touch me very deeply. But I know that strong people have a light that can never be stopped shining because it is theirs. Rebecca is one of those lights that will ALWAYS shine on in the world.
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely thing to say! You are too kind and a little bias, but I will take it. jejeje
